My favourite books

On this page, I am listing my favourite books, series and authors. These books I’ve enjoyed over the years that have made me miss plenty of sleep 🙂

I am mainly into fantasy, with the odd helping of murder/investigative mystery thrown in on the side. Also, I enjoy some political thrillers, mainly written by Tom Clancy.

  • Wheel of Time series by the late great Robert Jordan. The most in depth, fun and meaningful fantasy series ever in my opinion. It got me into really reading, and I have re-read each book at least 3 times. I hope that Book 12 will be a fitting tribute to him and his legacy. “May the last embrace of the Mother welcome you home, and the Creator shelter you in the palm of his hand”
  • Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion by J.R.R Tolkien. Like a fine wine, just gets better and better each time you read it. For me it falls just a tiny bit beneath Wheel of Time
  • The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen Donaldson. A great fantasy series that showed that someone can overcome madness and find their true courage to face life. A deeper somewhat darler fantasy but a must read.

I also have enjoyed books by Tami Hoag, Robert Crais, Jeffrey Deaver, Jonathan Kellerman, David Zindell, David Eddings, and plenty of others I can’t recall at the moment.

Reading kept my mind active during many a boring patch in my life, but they also made me think for myself, and opened my mind to different views. As a side effect, it also boosted my memory skills. In order to keep track of a plot in a thousand page book you almost have to have developed extra skills 😀

I will add to this list over time as I read other worthy books.
